Slack’s rapid growth eases but remains strong

Slack’s growth has slowed over the past five months to about half what it had been but still was about 33% in the latest period. Daily active users total 4 million, and paid users are pegged at 1.25 million, giving Slack a current annual run rate of $100 million.

Slack is a cloud-based team collaboration tool co-founded by Stewart Butterfield, Eric Costello, Cal Henderson, and Serguei Mourachov.

ack offers a lot of IRC-like features: persistent chat rooms (channels) organized by topic, as well as private groups and direct messaging (again, historically based on IRC). All content inside Slack is searchable, including files, conversations, and people. Slack integrates with a large number of third-party services and supports community-built integrations
